I’ve worked in retail, direct mail, at a dot.com startup, a registered charity and in customer service. I’ve worked as an entrepreneur and an artist.

I’ve always been fascinated with how the underpinnings of things work. When my band needed a website in the late ’90s, I taught myself HTML and Photoshop and built our first website from scratch.
When an employer needed a content management system, I assisted the developer in designing the necessary parameters. (Later on, he hired me to write marketing materials about one of his projects.)
I enjoy reading books like Database Design for Mere Mortals. I also sing jazz, write poetry and fiction and won the first poetry slam I entered.
